Project 1: Obvara-Fired work

‘Obvara’

is a firing technique first developed in Eastern Europe in the 12th century. Sometimes known as "sourdough pottery" or "scalded ceramics", the process involves fermenting a mixture of flour, yeast, sugar, and warm water to dunk still burning hot vessels into in a similar technique to ‘Raku’ firing.
